چکیده

Abstract This study explores the use of powder plasma transferred arc welding (PPTAW) as a surface layer deposition technology to form hardfaced coatings improve upon wear resistance mild steel. Hardfaced layers were prepared using PPTAW process with two different wear-resistant powders: PG 6503 (NiSiB + 60% WC) and PE 8214 (NiCrSiB 45% WC). By varying parameters gas flow rate (PGFR) current, prepared. Microscopic examinations, penetration tests, hardness abrasive tests carried out on samples. Hardfacings had 46.3–48.3 HRC, while those 52.7–58.3 HRC. The microhardness matrix material was in range 573.3–893.0 HV, that carbides 2128.7–2436.3 HV. steel improved after by up 5.7 times abrasion-resistant heat-treated steel, Hardox 400, having nominal approximately 400 increased addition Cr an alloying element. Increasing PGFR hardfacings, well increasing number cracks. (PTA) current resulted hardfacings fewer cracks but lowered resistance.

Gas tungsten arc welding of direct quenched wear resistant steel to plain carbon steel and evaluation of its microstructure and wear properties

In this research, the dissimilar welding of St52 plain carbon steel to W400 wear resistant steel and its effect on the microstructure and wear properties of the wear resistant steel was investigated. The wear resistant steel was produced via direct quenching with nominal hardness of 400 HB. Gas tungsten arc welding was used for joining process. The results showed that welding led to hardness re...

Control of eta carbide formation in tungsten carbide powders sputter-coated with (Fe/Ni/Cr)

Composite powders of tungsten carbide with variable coating contents of Fe/Ni/Cr based alloys (1–15 wt.%) were prepared by sputtering. The coated powders have revealed a good performance to shape-forming and sintering. However, the presence of nanocrystalline coatings could enhance the formation of a brittle phase during sintering, named g-phase, (M,W)6C. To investigate this effect, the powders...

Modeling of Transport Phenomena in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding of Ni to 304 Stainless Steel

This study investigates transport phenomena in the weld pool (WP) of gas tungsten arc (GTA) welding of Nickel to 304 stainless steel. A finite element 3D simulation of fluid flow and heat transfer of spot welding without consumable is accomplished which leads to prediction of the weld zone shape, weld penetration and dilution of alloying elements. The model includes magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD),...
